PML 4L70E Deep Transmission Pan
Here at the garage, one of the daily drivers in my fleet is a 2007 Trailblazer SS. I wrote about it awhile back, click here if you'd like to refresh yourself on what I thought of this vehicle.
PML is a company that makes deep transmission pans, differential covers, valve covers, and even some random motorcycle parts. When you Google and look around for a deep pan that will fit the automatic in our TBSS, nobody really can claim 100% positive that their pan will fit. PML is one of the first we found awhile back and I'm so glad we did. When this pan arrived, the box is heavy and the quality of the pan is solid. A nice cast finish with a thick flange makes the install super easy and almost impossible to screw up like a flimsy metal pan. The drain plug is a huge plus because this allows you to flush out your fluid every so often. You can also drill and tap out the other side of the pan for installation of a transmission temperature gauge sensor.
For this application, we used the Hastings TF156 Deep Pan Filter. This installed great and is working well. I've heard of some discrepancies with filter applications and finding the right one, but this one worked perfectly on our TBSS. Keeping your transmission temperature cool is pretty important. I've also heard keeping it too cool is just as bad as too hot. On a Trailblazer like this, I would recommend either one of these PML Pans or an aftermarket duct mounted cooler. Either product will keep your drivetrain temperatures down and give you a much longer lifespan on the components.
