Husky Liners Husky Shield
Every so often, a neat product idea comes across my desk. I've seen in the past, people have professionally installed the clear plastic paint protectors onto their vehicles. The process is pretty cool, but I've never priced one out mainly because it's just one of those things you sorta forget about. Taking your car to a body shop, leaving it for the day, and of course the cost all come into play. Husky Liners has a system they sell that can be done at home. They call it the Husky Shield and offer this kit for many different vehicles. The kit covers the front edge of the hood and also door edge protectors. The installation kit was an extra cost, but worth it
I opted to install this one a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer SS. Being white in color, I was curious if the white would be the best color to install this on, or the worst. The process is explained in a very detailed, fully photographed set of instructions. They were even especially made for the Trailblazer - very helpful. The video below has me explaining the entire process from start to finish and gives you an idea of how you can do this in your own garage. I really think this is a clever product that is worth the cost, but be careful when installing. Just like a screen protector on an electronic device; air, water, dust, dirt, and anything else are your enemy. You want a clean environment so you don't have anything stuck in between. Long term, I'm not sure as this has only been installed a week, but if anything comes up we will keep you updated. Check out HuskyLiners.com and see if they make this for your vehicle, they are a great company and we have tons of their products on our own vehicles.
